Let's see... wars that promote new technology are fun. I've been in a real urban-fantasy/evolved-fantasy-world mood lately. Maybe instead of generic-citizens-and-warriors-hacking-at-each-other-with-swords-and-fireballs we could do something sort of at the equivalent of the Civil War era. That can mean iron-clad ships (thus better sea battles!), more accurate firearms, and lots and lots of things that go 'boom.' Pawha.
Let's see... reasons for war...
-One country needs natural resources to fuel their industry. (Japan invading that one bit of China, England invading... everywhere)
-Fights for freedom/overthrowing tyrants (from occupiers, like the Romans, or colonizers, like American Revolution, or from an alliance or union, like the Confederacy in the US Civil War...)
-Clash of idealogies (holy wars and that rot) This one has always felt flimsy to me, it's usually in combination with one of the others...
-Border/land disputes (more small-scale, unless the border's effing huge)
And other stuff. My vote's for the first one. Let's see-- if it were an island nation or archipeligo, then they wouldn't have much room for growing stuff, which could lead to colonization, or they could need metal to fuel a war with elsewhere (weapons and crap), and thus could possibly just invade or do it secretly, since one wouldn't need to keep healthy relationships once they'd gotten the metal or ore or whatever. If the resource is renewable, you'd prolly not want to burn bridges, like.
Just throwing ideas out there, yo.

good for you yo! Sounds awsome! But since I'm like totally suckish at writing guy characters, and the civil war era thing like hates women, I have to be sneak in to kick ass chick.
No killing the Aris now...

I actually for a more magical fantasy war. We could always use the technology, but I'm looking for a more unrestricted enviroment...

No one said it'd *be* the actual physical Civil War era, just with about that level of technology. We could construct a completely different society, Aris, and you can play whatever you want. Anyways, playing other genders and people outside one's normal scope helps expand one's writing ability, which is always good.
We could always have multiple RPs going, for the ADD at heart. (Read: me. ^^)

I don't know. Neo fantasy is crazy fun. That way you don't have restrictions and you have technology. Besides, Furball is most horrendous at writing middle ages stuff.

I'm thinking of starting a massive war RP with multiple playable kingdoms. Each of the kingdoms would have a different specialty. For example, Kingdom 1 would have magic-based things, and the citizens would specialize in magic, whereas Kingdom 2 would specialize in advanced technology, and specialize in technology-type weapons, and Kingdom 3 would be a lovely balence of the 2...
I think I might actually do that.... *Walks off to think about it*
