I have a suggestion for a general policy around here. It seems to me that what you need first, before all the wars and everything, is to build each world that you're going to RP in from the ground up.
I think everybody should submit some request in this suggestions forum as to the type of RP they want to do or will want to do in the future (i.e. urban fantasy, traditional fantasy, a couple types of sci-fi, Redwall, zombie horror, or anything else) for several broad categories. Then we build, for each category, a world. Someone should keep track of these. Then each RP can be set in one of our four or five stock worlds that we all know the general parameters of. And if at some time in the furure somebody wants to play something that can't fit in one of our stock worlds, we can always build another one.
Sound good?

Before we do anything, we should get some members. I suggest that we invite all of our friends, and add little sig things that link back here.

I've a few settings from past sort-of-fantasy RPs Skiv and I (yeah. It's TEO. Hi. ^^) have done elsewhere, like on Gaia... they might fit here. I might even be able to find the old information/backstory for them. I'll try it.
If one has, perhaps, a half-developed idea for a setting, we could attempt to play it out and see how it would work, perhaps. This way, things can grow as they go along, and once they are sufficiently developed, what with the place's limitations and things, we can use them for more plotly RPs. The trial RP could then become history for the setting. Or something.

Yeah, like... we could have a pre-RP detailing how all our characters got together or something like that.
My first suggestion (just because I think that it would be fun) is us as a group of street kids in some traditional city. Something that can evolve in any direction we want it to, y'know? If this is cool with everybody I can whip up a city/world/setting in general.

Okay, just thought I should give y'all some say on this angle too: How advanced do we want technology? Having it modern-day would probably be my last choice, (though it's cool if you want it, of course) so should I go with something futuristic, something purely fantasy, or something with both, but with leanings one way or the other?
Also, does the name Ariswing have any other significance, or can I use it for our beginning imaginary country here?

I'm for it! I would like some futuristic tech! Yay laser blasters! And I seem to have misplaced the worlds in a stack of Finals Review Papers... *Oh dear*
And for the record, what exactly is Urban Fantasy?

Urban fatansy can be... werrrlll... either, literally, fantasy that takes place within a city, as opposed to whatsits-- y'know, great sweeping high fantasy where people trek 'cross the plains and stuff, or the more common definition, which is a more normal universe (or even ours) where magic happens to exist. Sort of like Neil Gaiman's 'Neverwhere,' perhaps... or not.
</crap definitions, ah well>

So, like the tenth kingdom, reversed? Instead of them going to fantasy land, the fantasy land goes to new york.

I can't believe someone else has seen that movie besides me.
Could we establish something about winning and losing? In past experiences Furball has noticed that some people won't allow their characters to lose. Perimeters should be established to prevent this lack of sportsmanship.
Might Furball add that all characters under a certain age be with a NP or someone else's older character? I mean, children don't walk around random places having adventures without a chaperone. Ever. Unless they have really good reason.
Furball probably isn't going to participate, but she feels the need to offer suggestions. She apologizes if these aren't acceptable to the RP and people do not like them. Furball just likes the Socratic Method.
